The Invasion of Poland

Where: Poland What: Hitler wanted to spread the empire of Germany Outcome: Conscription was not put into use, Germany swept through Poland easily Canadian involvement: Canada decided to join the war separate from Britain even though it was not required for them to fight. Canadians wanted to stop Germany from spreading their power and influence. This is why they joined the war and even though Canada was not under British rule they still felt strong ties and obligations to fight alongside Britain. Quebec decided to fight because the Prime Minister of Canada (Mackenzie King) promised conscription would not be put in place if they chose to fight on behalf of Canada. |
